Let us tell you that recently Richa Chadha has joined hands for a great initiative by ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ director Suchi Talati. She started an ‘undercurrent film lab’ for women’s equality in the film industry. Under this, women will be trained in cinema lighting. Under the program, the work of training 10 women in cinema lighting through professional cinematographers and gaffers has started.
Do female technicians face any kind of sexism?
In such a situation, when Richa Chadha was asked in a conversation with ‘Hindustan Times’ about the behavior of women technicians on the sets of the film, she replied saying, ‘Sexism remains a default behavior in our society. This is very common behaviour. We hope to gradually change this by including women in the workplace. Similarly, with some new changes, a new beginning begins. And that’s what I want to do.
Richa Chadha hopes for change
In further conversation, Richa Chadha told about the workshop that trains women to handle lighting equipment and said, “The experience is great. This is basically an area where there were fewer women than men. So we started it, and now because the girls are really learning, we’re feeling really happy. Here Richa Chadha says that by taking such steps, women working off-the-camera in the film industry are hoping to change things.
