Director Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan 1’ is slated to hit the big screens on 30 September. Ahead of the film’s release, the makers have now released the BTS video of the beautiful song ‘Ratchasa Mamne’. The video shows Karthi dancing on a scintillating set. In BTS video, Karthi, choreographer Brinda Master and art director Thota Tharani are talking about the song.
Karthi says, “This song occurs when a princess participates in a dance performance on Krishna Jayanti. She has imagined what it would have been like in the 10th century.”
The actor also narrates a part of the song in which women and children are seen pulling a rope to make a man fly.
“They’re doing a stage performance in that era. Yet it has to feel real, so they have women and children pull a rope to make them fly. It’s a kind of showmanship,” he says.
The actor also jokingly revealed how he had arrived at a secret arrangement with dance master Brinda to complete his dance parts with ease, but how director Mani Ratnam changed all his plans the next day.
In the BTS video, dance master Brinda says, “The song has Bharatnatyam and Kathak dance. I choreographed it with my assistants and we will do a rehearsal. Even the kids did a lovely performance.”
