Mahesh Bhatt, furious at the manner of Bollywood, said, ‘Now films are not being made but business is happening’

Mukesh Bhatt on Bollywood: Bollywood movies are not able to show anything special at the box office. Barring one or two exceptions like ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’, ‘The Kashmir Files’ and ‘Bhool Bhulaiya 2’, most of the films have failed to earn. Films of big actors like ‘Samrat Prithviraj’, ‘Dhaakad’ ‘Runway 34’, which were released recently, could not work. There is constant churning going on regarding Bollywood. From the cliched story of films, there are many such issues on which the veterans of the film industry are giving their opinion by staying. Filmmaker Mukesh Bhatt has also given the reason for this plight.

Along with Bollywood veteran filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt, his younger brother Mukesh Bhatt runs the production company ‘Vishesh Films’. Mukesh has made many successful films like ‘Sadak’, ‘Ghulam’, ‘Raj’, ‘Zeher’, ‘Jannat’, ‘Aashiqui 2’. Recently, while talking to the media, Mukesh openly expressed his opinion on the changing environment of Hindi cinema.

Change the content or you will be left behind
Mukesh Bhatt told in an interview to ‘Bollywood Hungama’ how the pandemic has changed the game of cinema, but Hindi filmmakers have failed to adapt to it. He said that ‘now the story has to change. OTT has come on the front due to the pandemic. Viewers have now become aware of good content. Now you cannot give them the same content that you were providing before the pandemic. We have to change with the times. Generations are changing and if you don’t change, you will be left behind. What is happening in Bollywood right now is that people are making setups, not films. Honesty gone, business going
Criticizing the current situation of Bollywood, Mukesh Bhatt said, ‘No one is making films anymore, everyone is doing business. Make this much, sell this much and put so much money inside. We never used to do this, the story we liked, used to get excited, then we used to say that let’s make it, that honesty is gone’.
