Mohanlal: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) unit in Kerala’s Kochi has issued a notice to superstar Mohanlal asking him to appear before it next week. The popular film star had visited Mavunkal’s ‘museum’, where he showed the actor his fake ‘antique’ collection.
Mavunkal had tried to impress many high-profile guests by showcasing antiques in his museum. He claimed to have an artifact titled ‘The Staff of Moses’ and 30 ancient silver coins, two of which were coined by Judas to deceive Jesus Christ.
Police said that he also had old handwritten copies of old Quran, Bible and Bhagavad Gita along with the throne used by Tipu Sultan. Mavunkal used to bring many VIPs to his palatial residence, a part of which was converted into a museum to house his ‘precious’ antiquities.
Mohanlal was among the tourists and ED will try to find out how they came to know about the dealer. So far, the ED has taken similar statements from some people and the Kerala government has arrested IGP G. Laxman was suspended for his alleged close ties. Laxman was supposed to appear before the ED officials this week but has not appeared yet.
