Amjad Khan’s son Shadab Khan reveals- ‘Film makers owes Rs.1.25 crore to father’

late actor Amjad Khan’s son and actor Shadab Khan has told about the financial condition of his family after the death of his father. In a recent interview, Shadab said that Amjad always lent money to filmmakers, but never asked them back.

Shadab said that after the death of Amjad, he was owed Rs 1.25 crore to the makers, but he did not pay the money. He revealed that a few months later a gangster from the Middle East offered him money, but Amjad’s wife flatly refused him.

Amjad died of a heart attack in July 1992. He was 51 years old then. Amjad had three children – Shadab, Ahlam Khan and Seemab Khan. The actor played the most memorable role in the film ‘Sholay’. He had worked in many successful films, played many roles.

Amjad Khan didn’t care about money
Shadab said in an interview to the Times of India, ‘My father had a habit of helping people and giving a lot of money. Producers used to come home and tell them stories, promising to give them the keys to their homes. He paid attention to them, but did not care about the money.

Amjad Khan used to keep money with friends
He further says, ‘He had kept his money with friends, not in banks. When he died, the makers owed him Rs 1 crore 25 lakh. But, none of them came forward to pay the money. Some people took loans from them and only a few people returned them. Think how much money we lost.

Gangster talked to Amjad Khan’s wife
He also said, ‘About four months after my father passed away, a gangster from the Middle East called who wanted to talk to my mother. She told the mother that she has come to know that the industry owed her (late) husband Rs 1 crore 25 lakh. She further said that they would give her that amount in 3 days, as her husband was a good man. My mother flatly refused, saying that her husband has never taken the favor of the underworld.
